My GREENISH life started when I was primary 4. I vividly remember the day when my mother dragged me to a tuition centre despite me being reluctant. I was fearful of the new environment, new people whom I would encounter, and communicating in English with anyone in the centre.
At that time I was still unable to converse in English as fluently as I am now. My fear eventually turned out to be unnecessary as the moment I was introduced to the class, the overwhelming enthusiasm of my new classmates warmed my heart and calmed me down. I would consider myself introverted, but seeing my classmates welcome me by cracking friendly jokes, I could sense the acceptance. Thanks to them and the teachers’ teaching approach, soon after registering, I was able to cope with the new environment well and anticipated every tuition session.
GREENISH has effectively helped me in improving my academic performance in English. I began to apply the knowledge I learnt in the centre in my daily practice, homework, and examinations. My English standard was pushed to a completely different level that was once unknown to me. I learnt to gather words in my vocabulary notebook, identify key words and the grammar in sentences with various structures. As the years went by, I gradually learnt how to study effectively and take the initiative to do my work rather than procrastinate.
Throughout my journey in GREENISH, not only did I learn academic knowledge, but also cultures and traditions behind a certain event when encountering them in our learning. We would spend time meaningfully and the occasional jokes cracked out made the learning process more interesting. In the process of acquiring knowledge, we had fun which made our time a fun and yet fruitful one.
To conclude, though the improvements in my life are not fully dependent on GREENISH, the centre definitely led me to thrive to be who I am today. It specifically pointed out my mistakes and showed me the correct way. Looking back, I indeed had a lot of memories stored in GREENISH that are worthy to be cherished. Thank you, GREENISH, for shaping me to a better self, and also for providing me with wonderful and unforgettable experiences.
